HomeVault Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 19, 2026
Overview
HomeVault is designed to help you store setup codes, notes, attachments, and smart-home inventory details. We aim to keep the app private by default and limit data collection to what is needed for the app to function.
Information you store in the app
You may choose to store information such as:
- Accessory names, rooms, and homes
- Numeric or Matter setup codes
- Notes, model details, and serial references
- Attachments you add to your device records
How data is used
Data stored in HomeVault is used to provide inventory, setup-code, backup, import, and organizational features inside the app. We do not sell your personal data.
Home system sync, camera, NFC, and biometrics
- Camera access is used to scan setup codes when you request it.
- NFC access is used to read compatible accessory tags when you request it.
- Linked home-system access is used to import accessories and related context when you choose to sync.
- Device biometrics are used only if you enable biometric protection.
Cloud backups
If you use cloud backup or sync features, your vault snapshot may be stored in the cloud account connected to the app. Your use of that storage is also governed by the provider’s terms and privacy practices.
Crash reporting and diagnostics
HomeVault may use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash diagnostics and technical error information that helps improve stability. This information is used for debugging and reliability, not for advertising.
Data retention and control
You control the content you add to HomeVault. You can delete stored records from within the app. If you use backups or cloud sync, additional copies may remain in the storage systems you selected until removed there as well.
Contact
If you need to request updates to this policy or have privacy questions about HomeVault, provide the support contact you intend to publish for the app before publishing the app.
